Curtis Granderson has 23 triples, isnt that incredible?
He becomes the first Tiger to do so since Ty Cobb did in 1912. And the first AL Player since 1949 to do so. Is that incredible or what?
Flat out incredible. Who would have though 23 triples by who? CURTIS GRANDERSON!! Before this season everyone was like what the heck is a Curtis Granderson? Now everyone knows. He easily is one of the most underrated players in the bigs. Easily my favorite Tiger. He probably is one of the best all round players in the game. He can cover all 5 hitting categories (HR, RBI, Runs, SB, AVG) and he is a superb fielder as well. One thing I would like to see changed for him is his K’s. A lead-off batter should not K that much but hey, nobody’s perfect.

When you bet on baseball, the trick is staying ahead of the curve. Since people are always going to bet on the Yankees and Red Sox, it's hard to get great value when you pick the teams. If you were lucky to get on the bandwagon of the White Sox early last year, it is likely that some money. This year, another computer is presented as an opportunity – The Detroit Tigers.
Now, it's easy to be skeptical. Was not this the worst team in the league so long ago? Have been around competition since the great team that got off to 35-5 start in 1984? Well, they have had few years of competition, but you get the point.
Here are some statistics that you have overlooked and may surprise you:
The Tigers have hit more home runs than any team in the league Americana. Remember, your stadium is not exactly considered a hitters park. The Tigers lead all of baseball in ERA. Kenny Rogers is not known to be successful in October but has won at least 13 games in 5 of the last 6 seasons. Everyone knew Jeremy Bonderman was due to an outstanding season. Justin Verlander was the No. 2 pick in the draft in 2004, and was thought to be a candidate for Rookie of the Year " when the season started. Mike Maroth lost 21 games in 2003. The old adage is that "we must be really good to lose 20 games." Maroth shown that, as he has steadily improved and has had a great start with a 5-2 record 2.18 ERA. Nate Robertson has rounded off a fine rotation. Fernando Rodney (6 saves, 1.59 ERA) and Joel Zumaya (2.76 ERA) have led to a strong bullpen.
The Tigers also have the best defensive efficiency in baseball, becoming almost 74% of balls in play into outs. With that kind of defense, pitching, and power, what not to like about these Tigers? Add in a surge of Pudge Rodriguez constant Carlos Guillen and Curtis Granderson improved, and this is a team to be reckoned with.
Finally, there were many skeptics when the Tigers hired to Jim Leyland. This was the guy who quit the Colorado Rockies and said he had lost his passion for baseball. However, this is also a guy with a championship World Series, two Manager of the Year awards and three division championships. Apparently, the fire is burning once again for Leyland.
I have written before the "Big Red Mirage" is in Cincinnati. The surprise in the American League is a completely different situation. These tigers could actually Grrrrrreat.
