My daughter has overactive bladder and my son needed to learn a slower pace.
I love teaching Math-U-See. It is visual, kinesthic and auditory learning all in one.
I use Learning Language Arts through Literature. Very Good.
My son uses “Handwriting without Tears” to learn cursive and likes it very much.
Currently I am used Mystery of History. It tells stories of real people through the ages. Keeps kids interested. And we can still recall.
Currently I use Dinah Zike’s books for Science. Fits all learning style.
Piano lessons, tae kwondo, swimming, sewing lessons.
Socialization: Wednesday Night Youth group, Cub Scouts, Tae kwondo, Community Pool 2x week, Sunday School, Playdates, Book discussion club, Library activities, etc.,
When I asked my kids which is better, they love homeschooling better.
And they love to pick where to go for field trips. One time we went to a water treatment plant where they draw water out of Lake Michigan.
We love our lives!
Well, I’m a teacher by trade because I love to teach. I quit teaching in public school when I became a mom, but now I get to teach my own kids. I love it because I can teach them and I get to be with them so much. I only have maybe 7 1/2 years left with my oldest before he goes off to college, and I’m so thankful for all of the time I’ve had and will continue to have with him. I know my kids so well. We’re really close and good friends with each other, and I love that. They love homeschooling and do not want to go to school.
On the other hand, I’m not vehemently opposed to private or even public school. I could see some potential benefits of my kids having a normal school experience. But you can’t have the benefits of public schooling and the benefits of homeschooling at the same time. Right now, the benefits of homeschooling outweigh any other choice for our family.
